The Black-throated Tit or also known as Aegithalos concinnus is a little passerine bird from the Aegithalidae family. This species has about 6 presently recognised subspecies and a lot of others have been recommended. Different studies have shown that these subspecies might represent different species but a lot more is to be studied yet.
The Black-Throated Tit is a little passerine who is about ten cm in length and four to nine grams in weight. There is quite noticeable variation in race in the plumage but all subspecies have a normal length tail which is different than the long tail of the Long-tailed Tit, a black mask around the eye and a black throat. The nominate race has a breast band, wings and tail, nominate race has a chestnut cover, a white belly and flanks and dark grey back. Both sexes are pretty similar. It goes from the foothills of the Himalays in northern India nad Pakistan and from northern Burma, southern China and Taiwan and Vietnam. In the island of Hainan and souther Vietnam, disjunct populations also occur. It lives in pine forest and also in open broadleaf forest, usually in middle altitudes. This species is very social.
